COVER THUMBNAILS

I wanted to explore another proverb for the front cover, and I came across 'only an elephant can carry an elephant's load'. I thought it would be interesting to have the elephant load the text onto it's back and have olio 12 as the 'load'. Also inspired by past work, I would like to create a heavily detailed background much like some pages from my children's book. I think for this I want quite solid colour, and this might be a good opportunity to try gouache.
I also wanted to come up with a thumbnail that would explore the subject matter that I enjoy illustrating, and I thought of having lots of little funny, magical creatures carrying olio 12 to a wizard.

The thumbnails above are taken from inside thumbnails that I didn't want to take further into more details roughs but I still liked enough to consider for the cover design. I like the viewpoint of the bath thumbnail, and again the forest-y one would allow me to draw/paint lots of detailed leaves and flowers.

I think the simplicity of the moon and stars thumbnails are effective, and again feature a subject matter that I enjoy drawing. The idea below was just looking at how different marks could be made, focusing on the painterly quality and looseness of watercolour.
