FINAL ROUGHS + EVALUATION

I have enjoyed the Olio module, mainly because I felt like this was the first module where we could put our heads down and create a lot of illustrations- I had missed drawing! I also hope I have shown my exploration and development, as I feel that especially with my mouse rough I have explored different ideas and ended up with something that has progressed from the original thumbnail. With my other option there was less development, but again I think this shows a different approach and how I was confident enough to take an idea from pencil thumbnail to colour rough quite quickly.

This module has also been an opportunity to use a different medium (gouache) and then try and combine that with digital drawing. I am happy with this simple material jump from watercolour to gouache, and from drawing my cover thumbnail I knew I wanted to use this medium to create a bold image that I don't think I could have achieved using my usual watercolour.  I have found that using photoshop for this module meant I could produce colour roughs quite quickly, and allowed me to experiment with different backgrounds/ altering size really efficiently. This module has opened my eyes to how I approach my practice and how I could carry on working with handprinted pieces and trying to mix it with digitally images and mark making successfully.

When it came to packaging and saving the images I think I could have been more prepared and had more practice. Although I managed to get most of it done on my own I still needed some pointers from Dolores to get finished. By the time we get to printing Olio I also hope to have my own website to include with my contact details instead of my art blog.
