MY PROVERB

My proverb is ' Don't pour water on a drowned mouse'. It means do not afflict the afflicted, don't kick somebody when they're down, don't rub salt into the wound etc. As this proverb is immediately quite visual, I decided to draw up some pages of mice to get it out of my system. I also did a quick mind map to come up with different rough ideas.

From this idea I like the aspect of having an image that has different things going on or a lot of different interactions happening at once, making the illustration look busy and interesting.

Over summer whilst I was working in an office I made up a character called ratgirl who I drew a lot on post it notes. I thought that creating an anthropomorphised character might be an interesting aspect of the illustration, and I could look at illustrators such as Tove Jansson or Matt Furie.
